KENYA: Microfinance Regulations Enacted
Regulations governing the activities of deposit-taking microfinance institutions (June 2008)
The Central Bank of Kenya has enacted regulations governing the activities of deposit-taking microfinance institutions (MFIs). These include the following:
1) Regulations categorizing MFIs as "nationwide" or "community" MFIs, available here.
2) Regulations on licensing, place of business, capital adequacy, liquidity, governance, internal controls, reporting and disclosure, supervision, risk-weighting of assets, and loan loss provisioning, available here.
